“All Things New” Opening Gala! Success!

Yet again, another opening Gala has gone off without a a hitch.  30+ artists and friends joined together to celebrate the opening of our newest exhibit “All Things New” which is rooted in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”  Artists submitted over 25 works in several mediums! It is another absolutely successful showing of great creation!  God is truly blessing this ministry with new artists as well as strengthening our close community of regular participators!  Many thanks to all who submitted and attended the Gala!  For more info about this ministry click the menu at the top about visual arts at JF!

1st Annual Friends & Fellowship Success!

Woohoo!

What an eventful evening we had Friday, February 10, 2012! Over 25 people crammed in Bobby’s house for a night of food, fellowship, and just great artistic community.  The photo booth was in full swing and almost every person had a go! Check it out! (Also see below for a few select favorite pics!)

This was a grand experiment to see if artists really wanted/needed a night like this… I’d say it is a resounding.. YES!  Be looking for the next one to be coming a little sooner than annually… perhaps in a few months!

Speaking of upcoming months, we have a new exhibit coming soon and are looking for submissions! The exhibit entitled “All Things New” will run March 16-May 6 and feature all sorts of different works.  There will be an opening Gala yet again, Friday March 23rd, if all goes according to plan.  Submission info can be found on the church’s website and through our email newsletter. If you haven’t signed up for our email list of updates please do so by emailing april.matthews@jfbc.org and asking to be included.  Or follow us on Twitter.

Now some fun pics from the party:

New Exhibit with Award Winning Photographer

There’s a fresh exhibit up for anyone’s viewing pleasure at Johnson Ferry’s gallery.  With the church’s Global Missions emphasis in mind, this exhibit features the award winning photography of Bob Miller (more info on him below).  His work has been published in Rolling Stone, Southern Living, The Washington Post, USA Today, and more!  The subject matter deals with youth revolts in Kenya, Africa.  Miller provides a keen insight into an arduous social and political arena there in Kenya.  It is a very compelling exhibit, and we encourage everyone to stop by and take a look!

Well, we had an excellent time here in the JFCreative.  We had our opening Gala for the newest gallery exhibit entitled “The Road”.

We were ready for them.

And ready to spread the word.

We have 22 brand new pieces of great art hanging on the walls of Johnson Ferry.  The evening consisted of proper mingling amongst artists, a few fun goodies to give away, and the ramblings of Bobby Smith.  Overall, a very successful event and evening for the artists of JF!  Looking forward to the next one already! Be sure YOU ARE THERE!

Welcome to the best website you’ve ever encountered.

Welcome to the beautiful new page that encompasses all things Creative and Artsy at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

I know you’re excited you’re here.

So let’s get started.  Check out one of the options above (Visual Arts, Music, Dance/Dramatic Arts) and get GOING!  The goal is to build not only a community of very talented and passionate people, but to be salt and light in this world that engages culture and artistic endeavors instead of shying from and fearing our present cultural climate!

Got questions or concerns? Email our creative guru at bobby.smith@jfbc[dot]org (he’s not so much a guru as he is just kind of a guy that does stuff…)
